FAQS

  • What types of therapy do you offer and what is your specialization?

We offer individual & couples therapy and support groups. We offer EMDR, talk therapy, and all specialize in perinatal mental health.

  • How long are sessions and how frequent?

Sessions are about 50-55 minutes long. We like to start weekly for the first 6-8 weeks to build the working relationship. Some people need more, some people need less. You will work with your therapist directly to determine frequency.

  • Do you take insurance?

Yes! We take BCBS PPO, Aetna, and Cigna plans. We also offer low sliding scale and out of pocket options ($25-$150/session). We can provide super bills.

  • How do I schedule an appointment?

You can email Jen at jen@pmhcchicago.com and she will support you through the intake and scheduling process.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

We will charge $100 as a fee for all cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice that do not meet the cancellation policy exceptions (sickness/household or family related emergency). Sessions will be assumed as a no-show if a client is more than 15 minutes late to the session. Insurance does not cover no-shows or late cancellations.

  • What is a Good Faith Estimate?

Under the No Surprises Act (H.R. 133), which took effect on January 1, 2022, healthcare providers are legally required to provide a cost estimate for treatment services to clients who are uninsured or choosing not to use insurance. This applies to individuals paying out of pocket for services. Please visit https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises for more information.

  • Can I do EMDR and stay with my talk therapist?

Yes! You can absolutely do EMDR while continuing to see your talk therapist. Many clients work with an EMDR therapist for trauma reprocessing while maintaining their ongoing therapeutic relationship for general support. In fact, this collaboration can be incredibly beneficial—your talk therapist provides continuity and emotional processing, while EMDR helps target and resolve specific traumatic memories. If needed, your EMDR therapist can coordinate with your talk therapist to ensure a seamless and supportive experience for you.

  • Can I bring my baby to therapy sessions?

Yes, you are welcome to bring your baby to sessions if that makes it easier for you to attend therapy.
